About the Opportunity 

Join the City of Adelaide as a Horticultural Tradesperson (Irrigation) and help shape the future of our city’s iconic Park Lands, gardens, and streetscapes. In this hands-on role, you’ll support the development and maintenance of vibrant green spaces across the city while contributing to a safe and productive work environment. You'll be part of a collaborative team committed to delivering quality horticultural outcomes that enhance public spaces and biodiversity.

 

You’ll be responsible for irrigation-specific tasks, ensuring all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in line with council standards and WHS legislation. From planning and scheduling daily tasks to operating specialised horticultural machinery, your skills will be key in keeping our green infrastructure thriving. You’ll also contribute to capital projects, continuous improvement initiatives, and high-quality service delivery to both internal and external stakeholders.

About You
To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A Trade level qualification within Amenity Horticulture or related fields.
  • Ability to work independently and unsupervised when carrying out trade tasks.
  • Knowledge of best practice irrigation practices in accordance with the Corporation’s horticultural standards, Material Data Sheets and Safe Operating procedures.
  • Understanding of the operation of commercial controllers and programming requirements, along with the ability to problem solve valve and wiring issues.
  • Extensive experience in testing large automatic irrigation systems, repairing or replacing sprinklers, installing and fixing PVC and high-density poly pipe work.
