About the Opportunity

The City of Adelaide Audit & Risk Committee is committed to providing thorough independent assurance and advice to Council on accounting, financial management, internal controls, risk management and governance matters.

 

 

The role of an Audit Committee Member is to provide appropriate advice and recommendations on matters relevant to its Terms of Reference in order to facilitate decision making by the Audit & Risk Committee and Council in relation to the discharge of its responsibilities. The Audit Committee is expected to understand the Local Government industry and be informed on current trends and risks faced by Councils, such as legislative changes.

 

 

The term of appointment will be:

1 position: 3 August 2026 – 30 August 2028.

About You

We are seeking expressions of interest from individuals who bring:

 

  • Strong expertise in risk management frameworks, including identifying, assessing, and mitigating strategic and operational risks

 

  • A sound understanding of governance, compliance, and assurance practices, with the ability to support effective oversight and accountability

 

  • Demonstrated experience interpreting financial information through a risk lens, including financial sustainability and controls

 

Candidates will ideally have extensive experience and relevant qualifications in risk, accounting, auditing, or legal practice, gained within large, complex organisations or the Local Government sector.
