About the Opportunity
The Manager, People Safety and Wellbeing plays a key role in shaping a workplace where people feel safe, supported and able to do their best work. As a member of the People leadership team, this role leads the development and delivery of practical, leader-led safety and wellbeing strategies that are embedded into everyday ways of working across the City of Adelaide.
Leading a small team, the role is responsible for building and continuously improving health, safety and injury management systems that are compliant, contemporary and genuinely people-centred. This includes ensuring the organisation meets its duty of care obligations while also championing proactive, preventative approaches that support both physical and psychological wellbeing.
Working closely with leaders at all levels, the Manager, People Safety and Wellbeing provides trusted advice, coaching and support to help build capability, confidence and shared accountability for safety and wellbeing. The role works collaboratively across the People program to integrate safety and wellbeing priorities into broader workforce initiatives, contributing to a resilient, high-performing and values-led organisation.
This role also has oversight of workers’ compensation and return to work programs, supports the effective management of complex safety matters, and maintains strong relationships with external partners to ensure services are responsive and aligned to best practice. Through thoughtful leadership and a strong service mindset, the Manager, People Safety and Wellbeing helps create an environment where safety and wellbeing are not just obligations, but part of how we care for our people and our community.

About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Significant experience at both strategic and operational levels in WHS and Injury Management.
- Proven ability to coach and lead teams in a dynamic work environment.
- Proven experience in the development of a positive WHS culture within a diverse organisation.
- Proven experience in incident prevention, investigation and analysis.
- Comprehensive experience in the development, consultation, negotiation and implementation of WHS & IM policies and procedures.
- Experience in auditing and evaluating the performance of WHS management systems. Comprehensive knowledge of:
- Safety Management Systems and Assurance Frameworks.
- The Work Health and Safety Act (2012) and WHS Regulations 2012.
- The Return to Work Act (SA) 2014.
- WHS related Codes of Practice and Standards.
- The SA Self Insurer Code and the associated Performance Standards for Self-Insurers (PSSI).
