About the Opportunity 
This is more than just a graduate-level role, it’s a chance to put your civil engineering skills into action on real projects that shape how people live, move, and connect in the heart of Adelaide.


As part of our Infrastructure Program, you’ll step into a hands-on role where no two days are the same. You’ll play a key part in planning, designing and delivering civil infrastructure projects that have a lasting impact, from improving footpaths and roads to enhancing drainage and water-sensitive urban design across our city.


In this 6-month opportunity, you’ll gain exposure to the full project lifecycle:
From scoping and design, to working with consultants and contractors, to monitoring project delivery and seeing the outcomes come to life. You’ll also work closely with a range of internal and external stakeholders, giving you practical experience in collaboration, communication, and problem-solving.


This role is perfect for someone who’s ready to grow their experience in a supportive and knowledgeable team, while contributing to projects that matter. Whether you’re early in your career or looking to build momentum, you’ll gain valuable exposure to best-practice standards, governance, stakeholder engagement, and delivering real community outcomes, all while enjoying the flexibility and variety of working in local government.

About You
To be eligible for this role you will have:

  • Graduated within approximately the last 2 years with a degree in Civil Engineering and eligible to join Engineers Australia as a Graduate Engineer (GradIEAust).
  • Ability to work in an open, creative and collaborative project-based environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to think conceptually and creatively and show initiative and self-discipline in daily tasks.
  • High level of initiative and self-discipline with ability to and prioritise a broad program of works and make decisions relevant to position.
  • Strong organisational skills, the ability to successfully manage competing priorities, maintain attention to detail and meet deadlines.

 


Eligibility

This opportunity is designed specifically for early-career candidates who are looking to gain hands-on experience and start building their career in civil engineering.
