About Us

The Adelaide Economic Development Agency (AEDA) is a subsidiary of the City of Adelaide (CoA) under Section 42 of the Local Government Act 1999.  AEDA’s focus is to accelerate economic growth in the City of Adelaide, by attracting investment and supporting businesses, festivals and events, as well delivering initiatives to increase the number of visitors, students and residents.

 

 

The AEDA has adopted a four year Strategic Plan that aims to better position the City of Adelaide as a destination of choice for property and business investment and for people to live, study or visit.

About the Opportunity

We are seeking expressions of interest to be the Chairperson of the Adelaide Economic Development Agency Board. The Board is comprised of ‘skills-based’ members and as Chairperson you will lead them and work in collaboration to:

  • set the strategic direction for delivering initiatives to improve economic outcomes and enhance the long-term sustainability of the City of Adelaide, and
  • drive the continuing invigoration and growth of the City of Adelaide’s economy through city-wide marketing, investment attraction, visitor economy and business support.

 

 

A key part of the role will see you become an ambassador for the city, promoting the city’s precincts, including Rundle Mall, as premium business and shopping destinations. You, with the support of the Board and AEDA team, will have responsibility for supporting Adelaide’s economic growth.

 

 

About You

You will have a passion for all things Adelaide, business connections across state, national, and international stages, and significant leadership experience.

 

 

You will be able to demonstrate high level experience and knowledge in one or more of the areas listed below. This will be complemented by the diversity of skills and backgrounds of the AEDA Board Members.

 

  • Economic development
  • Brand, marketing and public relations
  • Retail
  • Visitor economy, tourism and events
  • Property development and management
  • Commercial acumen
  • Governance and people leadership
  • Strategic management
  • Financial management

Applicants with relevant Chairperson or Board Director experience as well as membership of the Australian Institute of Company Directors will be highly regarded.

 

 

The AEDA Chairperson is remunerated at $25,000 per annum.
