About the Opportunity 
The Coordinator, Climate Change plays a key role in delivering strategic climate initiatives that support the City of Adelaide’s goals for emissions reduction, carbon neutrality, and community sustainability.


Sitting within the Low Carbon & Circular Economy Team, the role is responsible for coordinating the Sustainability Incentives Scheme, maintaining corporate and community greenhouse gas inventories, and supporting the development of climate-related policy and projects. The role also supports delivery of energy and resource assessments, contributes to Council reporting, and provides advice to both internal and external stakeholders on climate change and greenhouse gas emissions.


A core focus of the role is leading the design and delivery of communications and engagement activities that drive climate awareness and action. This includes managing content for community-facing materials aligned with the team’s broader engagement strategy.


This is a dynamic coordination role requiring strong project management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to engage confidently across a wide range of stakeholders. It offers the opportunity to apply technical knowledge and communications expertise in a way that directly supports climate outcomes for the city.

About You
To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Knowledge of environmental policy and planning in one or more of the following: sustainability in the built environment, climate change mitigation, energy and water management.
  • Demonstrated experience collecting, collating and calculating data.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail in report writing and data handling.
  • Knowledge of and experience in contemporary engagement techniques/processes for sustainability planning and implementation.
  • Experience in database management to inform the development of environmental sustainability policy, plans, advice and resources.
  • Experience in the provision of advice to the community on environmental sustainability and/or climate change issues.
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to use Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and technology applications to manage data.
