About the Opportunity

As part of the People Team within the Corporate Services portfolio, the Coordinator, Aboriginal Employment & Inclusion plays a key role in advancing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employment, development and inclusion outcomes across the City of Adelaide.

 

 

The role is responsible for designing and delivering targeted initiatives that create employment pathways for Aboriginal people, support development and retention, and contribute to the achievement of Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) outcomes. Working closely with the People Experience team and the broader People teams, you will support the delivery of inclusive people practices and strengthen organisational capability in diversity, inclusion and belonging.

 

 

You will build strong, collaborative relationships with Aboriginal employees, communities and external stakeholders, including education and employment partners, to support workforce initiatives and positive career outcomes. The role also provides advice, guidance and support to leaders and teams on cultural safety, inclusive practices and effective engagement.

 

 

In addition, you will contribute to the development, consultation and implementation of corporate policies, guidelines and resources, support diversity and inclusion reporting requirements, and engage with leaders across the organisation to help embed inclusive practices. This role offers a mix of strategic initiative delivery, stakeholder engagement and continuous improvement within a collaborative People team.

Eligibility 

Cultural knowledge and lived experience is key in succeeding and delivering this role effectively, therefore it is only open to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people. The filing of this role is intended to constitute a special measure under s 8(1) of the Racial Discrimination Act 1975 (Cth), and s 56(2) Equal Opportunity Act 1984 (SA).

 

 

About You

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Experience designing and delivering initiatives that support Aboriginal employment, development and retention outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with Aboriginal employees, communities and a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience providing advice and guidance on culturally inclusive practices, cultural safety and engagement.
  • Strong capability in developing, consulting on and implementing policies, frameworks and corporate resources.
  • Experience contributing to or leading diversity, inclusion and continuous improvement initiatives.
