About the Opportunity

The Business Partner, Safety Systems and Assurance is a key role within the People Program at the City of Adelaide, focused on creating a safe, supportive and high-performing workplace. At its heart, the role is about partnering with leaders across the organisation to strengthen safety culture, build capability and ensure everyone feels confident in meeting their work health and safety responsibilities.

Working closely with leadership teams, this position provides practical advice, coaching and specialist guidance on safety and wellbeing matters. It plays an important part in delivering the People Workforce Strategy and delivering WHS Action Plans that align with legislative requirements and the standards set by Local Government Risk Services, including Performance Standards for Self-Insurers licence conditions.

Beyond compliance, the role is about continuous improvement and meaningful engagement. It supports leaders and their teams to actively use and contribute to the WHS Management System, strengthens understanding of hazard management and reporting processes, and promotes a “just culture” approach to incidents and investigations. It also responds to critical incidents when needed, leads complex investigations, and helps turn learnings into practical improvements.

This opportunity would suit someone who enjoys building strong relationships, influencing positive change and helping leaders feel capable and supported. It’s a role that balances strategy with hands-on involvement and offers the chance to make a real difference to safety, wellbeing and leadership capability across the organisation.
