About the Opportunity

As part of the Infrastructure Program, the Asset Planner plays a key role in shaping the future of the City of Adelaide's water infrastructure and bridge assets. This strategic position is responsible for developing long-term asset management plans that balance community expectations, risk, service delivery and financial sustainability, ensuring our infrastructure continues to support a vibrant, liveable city. The two asset portfolios encompass a diverse range of critical infrastructure assets, including:

 

Water Infrastructure

  • Underground drainage network
  • Stormwater management devices
  • Karrawirri Pari / River Torrens
  • Park Lands water courses

 

Bridges

  • Five major road bridges
  • Three major footbridges
  • Approximately 30 minor Park Lands footbridges

 

These assets are fundamental to supporting flood mitigation, environmental outcomes, community connectivity and the long-term resilience of the City's infrastructure network.

 

Working across the organisation and with external stakeholders, you'll develop lifecycle and risk management strategies, prepare Asset Management Plans that inform long-term financial planning, and manage rolling capital works and maintenance programs. You'll use data-driven analysis to model service levels, investment scenarios and asset performance, providing evidence-based advice that supports informed decision-making and future investment priorities.

 

You'll also provide specialist asset management expertise across the organisation, leading continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen our Asset Management Framework and maturity. From managing condition audits and supporting asset revaluations to initiating projects and developing project briefs you'll play an influential role in delivering best-practice asset management while fostering strong collaborative relationships that help achieve the City's strategic objectives.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in managing the planning and delivery of asset management programs for a large organisation and the ability to apply best practice asset management.
  • High level of technical competence relating to assets and infrastructure management including knowledge of asset management principles, associated Acts, Regulations and legislation.
  • Significant stakeholder management experience in a complex asset planning and project management environment.
  • Commitment to placing the customer at the centre of everything we do demonstrated through the provision of timely, reliable and expert advice on matters within area of responsibility.
  • Proven ability to think strategically, analyse complex situations, develop creative solutions and achieve outcomes that advance the Programs objectives and result in process or service improvement or value add.
