About the Opportunity

As part of the Finance and Procurement team, the Accounts Receivable Officer, Receipting plays a key role in delivering a professional, accurate, and efficient Accounts Receivable service for the organisation. This role supports the effective collection and receipting of Council income, contributing to strong financial governance and positive customer outcomes.

 

Working across a broad range of receipting and reconciliation activities, you will process customer and ratepayer refunds, and ensure bank transactions and receipts are accurately monitored and accounted for, and assist with outstanding debt collection. You will also support the establishment, maintenance, and follow up of Council rate direct debit payments, including annual, quarterly, and monthly processing, as well as managing dishonoured payments and unidentified receipts.

 

The role involves regular liaison with internal stakeholders across finance, rates, and operational teams to ensure data integrity and timely resolution of queries. You will also engage with external customers, providing clear and professional responses while supporting a customer-focused approach to accounts receivable services.

 

In addition, you will contribute to the administration of electronic bill presentment, support cash collection monitoring, assist with system testing and upgrades, and help develop and improve guidelines, practices, and procedures. This role offers a mix of transactional work, stakeholder engagement, and continuous improvement within a collaborative finance environment.

About You

 

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Experience in Accounts Receivable functions in a general office environment in a medium to large organisation.
  • Experience in identifying process improvement opportunities and potential cost efficiencies across a broad range of transactional services and business processes.
  • Ability to effectively utilise allocated resources which includes planning, and prioritising.
  • Experience in contributing to the development and application of corporate projects and continuous improvement projects.

 

  • Experience in the operation of TechOne or other enterprise financial accounting systems.
